Mary Davidson's busy life wasn't interrupted by her hysterectomy

A speedy recovery
Thanks to a new surgical technique, Mary Davidson was up and around in no time. Mary recovered from her hysterectomy in just days because her surgeon used a minimally invasive surgical technique know as laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy.

Rather than making a four-to six-inch incision in Mary's abdomen, her surgeon performed the operation through four tiny openings using special miniaturized surgical instruments.

Mary, a full-time art professor, returned home 27 hours after here surgery, went to a Christmas party two days later, and was back to power walking and canoeing two days after that.
